CeCe Winans to Star in Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas

CeCe Winans is stepping into a new kind of role this Christmas!

The Grammy-winning gospel artist is joining the cast of Tyler Perry’s upcoming Netflix movie, The Gospel of Christmas, where she’ll play a character named Mrs. Johnson.

If you’re not familiar with Tyler Perry, he’s one of the biggest names in American film and television. He’s a writer, director, producer, and actor known for creating some of the most successful movies and TV shows of the last couple of decades. Now, he’s bringing a faith-filled Christmas story to Netflix.

For CeCe, this is a little different from some of her previous appearances on screen. Rather than performing or appearing as herself, she’ll actually be portraying a character in a scripted feature film.

The Gospel of Christmas centers on a pastor who inherits his family’s church in a struggling New York City neighborhood. As he faces doubt and temptation, he must find a way to save his church, his family, and the community around him before Christmas.

CeCe shared her excitement about being part of the film, which features a lineup of gospel artists, and summed up its message with a simple reminder: “Christmas is all about the Gospel!”
