for KING + COUNTRY Take Their Storytelling to the Big Screen with Drummer Boy

Known for bringing faith-filled stories to life through music, for KING + COUNTRY are taking their storytelling to the big screen once again. The Smallbone brothers previously brought their family’s story to theaters with Unsung Hero, a 2024 film inspired by the true story of their family’s journey from Australia to the United States and the beginnings of the musical duo. Now, they’re returning to theaters with Drummer Boy, a new musical adventure set during the American Revolutionary War.

Opening exclusively in theaters November 6, 2026, Drummer Boy follows two brothers who find themselves on opposite sides of the battlefield, alongside an enslaved woman searching for freedom in a world built to deny it. With music woven throughout the story, the film explores faith, forgiveness, family, love and sacrifice against the backdrop of a nation fighting for independence.

For the Smallbones, Drummer Boy has been years in the making. Joel Smallbone, who stars in the film, co-directs alongside his brother Ben, continuing the family’s collaboration both on and off the screen. Joel has described the journey as a dream that began taking shape years ago and went through twists, turns and script revisions before finally reaching the big screen. The result is a film that combines the musical storytelling the brothers are known for with an epic historical setting and a deeply personal story about brotherhood, freedom and forgiveness.

Drummer Boy marks Angel’s first live-action theatrical musical and is designed to be experienced on the big screen. Watch the trailer below and enter for your chance to win tickets to see Drummer Boy in theaters November 6.
