Remembering Dolly Parton and Her Impact on Christian Music
We were saddened to hear that Dolly Parton passed away Tuesday at the age of 80. While most of us know Dolly for her country music, she had a really special connection to Christian music, too.
Her history with the GMA Dove Awards goes back more than 35 years. She performed “He’s Alive” on the Dove Awards stage back in 1990, and over the years she received multiple nominations and wins. She was even nominated for a Dove Award this year.
Dolly worked with some of the biggest names in Christian music, too. She joined for KING & COUNTRY for “God Only Knows” and Zach Williams on “There Was Jesus,” which went on to win a Grammy. Her faith was such an important part of who she was, and you could hear that come through in so much of what she did.
She really was one of a kind, and what a legacy she leaves behind.
